Website maintenance and care packages
Your website is not a static object. Much like a car which needs regular maintenance, so does your site require regular care and maintenance. We have three website maintenance and care packages for you to choose from. Below we answer a few questions about website maintenance and care.
Why do I need website maintenance?
WordPress is a software which we build websites with. It is the most popular website development software on the internet. WordPress periodically updates the core system. This is done to improve on site security and to keep up to date with technology. Consider how often you receive notifications for upgrades on your cell phone or how frequently a new model cell phone is released – in the same manner, website maintenance needs to be kept up to date with evolving technology. This sometimes can however, cause errors which then need to be resolved.
In addition to technical maintenance requirements, your content needs regular updating. The beauty of your website is that it can be kept up to date with your company. So as you add new services, team members and office, we need to update it on your website. In addition, Google loves a good, relevant content update, so it’s in your favour to keep your content on-topic and fresh!
What happens if a care package is not taken?
Please note, once your site has gone live, unless you have chosen a package, we will no longer be checking in on your website. Failure to maintain it (much like not maintaining your car) could result in larger issues at a later stage. In addition, by not regularly maintaining your website both technically and in terms of content, will have an impact on the success of your website to your marketing plan.
Additionally, we use premium themes and plugins. If you take out a maintenance package with us, you are given access to these premium updates at no extra charge to you. Should you decide to forgo maintenance or do your own maintenance, you will need to purchase your own licenses for updates.
What’s included in website maintenance?
Framework & theme updates; Security updates; Analytics stats; Website monitoring; Backup of sites (we will require access to your Dropbox account for cloud backups). Includes one physically downloaded backup per month.
Please note, for bigger sites, they may require more monitoring and more frequent updates.
GENERAL CONTENT UPDATES:
Regular content updating is beneficial to you, both from the perspective of having your website work better for you but also from a search engine point-of-view. Google sits up and pays attention to websites which are fresh and regularly updated. And they could reward you with a better positioning.
Our content updates include: Adding/ removing blog posts; adding/ removing team members; Update services; adding/ removing products; adding/ removing articles; change text; change images.
Changes included in the updates have limited time so if you have a lot of changes or content updates, we will quote these as a separate project.
What’s not included in website maintenance?
If you “break” the website by moving around pages, adding in plugins, giving access to people who aren’t familiar with the WordPress system etc, this will not be covered. To avoid this, we’ll give you up to Editor access, but if we are doing a website maintenance and care package we won’t be able to share administrator access with you.
In addition, if there are unforeseen issues out of our control, like plugin conflicts or hosting problems which take longer than the allocated maintenance time, then we'll advise you and proceed as a separate project.
